The Sydney Kings proudly acknowledge Ruby, a Dharug/Wiradjuri artist emerging as a strong and confident creative voice.
Based in Campbelltown, Ruby is deeply connected to her culture, community, and family, drawing strength from her cultural roots to inform and inspire her work.
At just 14 years old, she is the creative force behind the Indigenous Round jerseys for both the Sydney Kings and the Sydney Flames - a significant achievement that reflects both her artistic talent and strong cultural identity.
Alongside her creative journey, Ruby is a dedicated student and representative basketball player, balancing discipline, creativity, and pride in everything she does.
Ruby creates with purpose. Her work speaks to identity, belonging, and the strength of the next generation.

Gathering Strength Talara’Tingi

“Gathering Strength” centres on the flannel flower - a symbol of resilience, healing, and adaptability, and a meaningful emblem for Dharug people. It is also recognised as the national symbol for Aboriginal mental health awareness, reflecting the ability to endure and renew through challenging conditions. Like the flannel flower, strength is found in persistence - a quality that connects deeply with both culture and sport.

The design features the flannel flower with a central meeting place, representing community, connection, and shared strength. Surrounding petals and flowing songlines reflect journeys, pathways, and the deep cultural connections that guide and sustain people over time.

The flannel flower is a protected species in the wild, preserved to ensure its regeneration and longevity. This element of the design brings awareness to the importance of protecting and sustaining native flora and fauna, reinforcing a broader message of care, respect, and responsibility.
